ABOUT BLUE PENCIL PROCUREMENT
"Oh, no, my Lord, I assure you that parts of it are excellent!"'. Unlike the curate's egg, which if bad should be discarded in toto, the Blue Pencil Rule allows the "good bits" to be kept and the "bad bits" to be deleted.
From the Wikipedia entry for the Blue Pencil doctrine
bluepencil procurement was created to focus on what its team are truly passionate about – delivering leading edge procurement improvement and transformation consultancy and advisory services to clients who truly want to improve.
The bluepencil team is led by Jon Howell, a procurement practitioner with nearly 30 year’s experience in procurement.
A native of Yorkshire, Jon started in procurement at British Rail as a graduate trainee before moving to British Airways. At BA, Jon had a variety of roles and worked internationally in Europe, US, Japan and Australia as procurement lead as part of a massive global project to install satellite communications and at seat interactive inflight entertainment systems at every seat, across the BA fleet.
Jon took the wide range of experiences from these roles into consulting where he worked firstly with pwc, then KPMG before moving to a smaller niche player in 2011.
As a management consultant, Jon reached Director level, leading teams and providing procurement solutions internationally, working with a wide range of organisations from FTSE 100 financial services organisations to small sweet manufacturers based in the North West of England.
The client theme was often the same – how can we improve what we do and deliver more for our business?
